Troops of the 6th brigade alongside the sector 3 of the Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) of the Nigerian army have eliminated a suspected bandit after raiding the hideout of the terrorists in Ussa Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba state.
Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) revealed that the operation was carried out on Friday, June 27 following credible intelligence report.
Oni mentioned that an AK-47 rifle, several rounds of bullets were recovered from the terrorists during the operation.
He said, “Troops stationed at Kwesati were deployed and tactically established a position along a suspected crossing route.
“During the operation, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with superior firepower.
“The intensity of the engagement forced the bandits to flee in disarray, with several suspected to have escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds.
“One bandit was neutralized during the encounter.
“Following the operation, troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one motorcycle, and two mobile phones.”
Brigadier General (Brig-Gen) Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the soldiers for their bravery, professionalism, and precise execution of the mission.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining intensified operations until all security threats across the state are completely eliminated.
General Uwa also urged the public to keep sharing reliable and timely information with security forces to aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.
