The Nigerian army has rescued seven victims abducted by terrorists in Tsanyawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano state.
The terrorists had abducted ten residents and killed a 60 year old woman before security forces arrived.
According to the third brigade spokesperson, Captain Babatunde Zubairu, in a statement on Sunday, the operation involved a joint team of troops from Operation MESA’s third brigade, the Nigerian police, and the Nigerian air force.
The rescue followed a distress call around 11:00 p.m. on Friday from Yankamaye Cikin Gari village after terrorists invaded the community.
“Upon receiving the information the troops pursued the terrorists along their withdrawal route towards Rimaye, engaged them with a high volume of fire, and swiftly rescued the abducted victims.
“However four of the kidnapped victims are still unaccounted for.
“The terrorists fled towards Kankia LGA in Katsina state and efforts are ongoing to track their location,” the statement read.
The third brigade commander praised the troops for their quick response and professionalism during the operation.
He appealed to residents to assist security agencies by providing timely and accurate intelligence that could assist ongoing operations.
