Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, deployed at Maraba Apawa, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim after acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected abductors around Yaja Village in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation took place on Thursday after soldiers received a distress alert indicating the kidnappers were on the move. The troops immediately launched a rapid pursuit, applying sustained tactical pressure that forced the criminals to flee and abandon their captive.
The rescued victim, a 40-year-old resident of Yelwata community in Ardo-Kola LGA, had been abducted on December 9.
Reacting to the success, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift action, discipline, and professionalism. He said the rescue once again demonstrated the Brigade’s firm commitment to protecting lives and property in Taraba State.
The Commander reassured the public that the 6 Brigade remains fully prepared to deny criminal groups any form of safe haven. He emphasized that kidnapping, banditry, and related violent crimes will continue to attract immediate and decisive military responses.
Brigadier General Uwa urged residents to stay vigilant and provide timely, actionable information to support ongoing operations. He also assured the people of Taraba State of a peaceful and secure festive season as military efforts intensify.
The Nigerian Army expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and stability across Taraba State and surrounding areas.
