The bodies of two brothers have been discovered inside a car trunk, abandoned near Tempo Mills in Umunya, Anambra State, along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway on Monday, January 29.
It was gathered that the victims were kidnapped and murdered after attending a church program in Onitsha, by unknown assailants.
The incident has left the community in fear, with locals struggling to comprehend the heinous crime.
The brothers became victims of a recurrent act prompting questions about the motive behind the kidnapping and subsequent murder.
Meanwhile, suspected herdsmen reportedly attacked and killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti state.
The incident occurred between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti in Ajoni Local Government Council Area.
The two kings, namely the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area, were ambushed by the gunmen while returning from a meeting.
Fortunately, another monarch, the Alara of Ara in Ikole Local Government Council Area, narrowly escaped the attack.
The armed assailants allegedly stopped them, opened fire, took their belongings, and dragged their bodies into the bush.
Meanwhile, this distressing incident comes after a similar occurrence in December when gunmen killed Edwin Azike, the traditional ruler of the Atta ancient kingdom in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident has plunged the affected communities into a state of fear and agony.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident, assuring that investigations are underway to gather more details.
