Former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Bola Tinubu for winning the presidential nomination of the All Progressives Congress.
“Congratulations, @officialABAT, on your emergence as your party’s presidential candidate. It has been a hard-fought contest, but that you prevailed confirms your tenacity,” Mr Abubakar said in a Twitter statement.
Mr Tinubu’s triumph, according to Mr Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, demonstrates his perseverance.
On Wednesday, Mr Tinubu defeated Rotimi Amaechi and Yemi Osinbajo for the APC presidential ticket, receiving 1, 271 votes to 316 and 235 votes, respectively.
At the convention, which ended on June 8 in Abuja, Senate President Ahmad Lawan came in fourth place with 152 votes, according to The Gazette.
