Photo/Facebook/Atiku Abubakar Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, told northerners that his restructuring agenda would strengthen her unity, and enhance the country’s economic development. Atiku who was at the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session with 2023 presidential candidates at the Arewa House, Kaduna, also appealed to them to key into his agenda to rebuild, and lead the nation into an era of economic prosperity. He, however, assured the North that there is nothing to fear about restructuring the country. Other presidential candidates that appeared before the joint committee included the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidates, Adewole Adebayo, and Kola Abiola respectively. According to Atiku: “Poverty is more pervasive in the North than in the South; 15 of 17 states with above national average poverty headcount rate are in northern Nigeria.” He continued: “72 per cent of the extremely poor are in the North, while only 28 per cent live in the South.” Atiku, who unfolded a five-agenda programme for the country said, noted that the agenda is guided by three basic principles, just as he maintained that his blueprint will reaffirm the criticality of private sector leadership and greater private sector participation in development.
