Suspected bandits have attacked another community in Zamfara State, the Tungar Ruwa community of Anka local government area, killing at least nine persons in the invasion.

Daily Post reports that the bandits who stormed the village in the wee hours of Wednesday, November 10, 2021, searched the entire village, shooting at the villagers.

A source said that nine villagers were killed, including the village head who was slaughtered in the presence of his subjects.

“They stormed the house of the village head, brought him to the public, and butchered him to death,” the source said.

He explained that the gunmen also rustled livestock and burgled many shops and carted away with foodstuffs worth millions of naira.

He said residents of the community, especially women and children, have already run away from the village due to the fear of another attack.

Despite the ban on telecommunication networks still being in effect in Zamfara, bandits in recent times have intensified attacks in the state.

Earlier this week, suspected bandits killed seven officers of the Zamfara State Police Command along the Tofa-Magami Road in the Gusau local government area of the state while the police personnel went to the area on a patrol mission.

Last Sunday, suspected bandits also stormed Rijiya village in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, killing six persons and injuring many.
