A group of bandits have attacked the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, located in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday, September 9.
They have kidnapped two nurses and a number of patients whose exact count is not known.
Musa Alhassan, a leader of a local vigilante group, reported that the bandits first aimed for the nearby Government Day Secondary School, arriving at around 9 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024.
However, after discovering the school was empty, they redirected their focus to the nearby healthcare centre.
“The bandits came to the school around 9 am, asking about the students, but when they found out that the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people,” Alhassan said.
The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown,” he added.
An eyewitness said, “the bandits came into the healthcare centre, wielding guns and machetes. They started dragging people out of the hospital, and we could not do anything to stop them.”
This incident marks the most recent in a string of attacks by bandits in the state, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security measures to safeguard both communities and healthcare facilities.
As of the time this report was filed, Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer for the command, had not responded to phone calls or text messages sent to his mobile number.
