He stated this, yesterday, in Abuja when he received the family of the late Abubakar Audu, former governor of the state, who came on a ‘thank you visit’ for the nomination of their own as minister. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Mohammed, the governor, while recounting the process that led to the choice of Shaibu as minister-designate, emphasised that equity always comes first in his decision-making. Stressing the importance of unity and tolerance among the three senatorial districts of Kogi, Bello said tribal sentiment has no place in modern politics. He reassured the minister-designate of his unwavering support, believing he would go far and make the nation proud by building on his father’s legacy. “This is an opportunity for you to build on your father’s legacy. The joy that accompanied your nomination must be sustained through how you conduct yourself and lead the people. I have no doubt you will make the nation proud,” the governor stated.
