Buckingham Palace has refuted rumors circulating claiming the demise of King Charles III.
The false reports, bearing the seal of the British monarch’s official London residence, alleged that the King died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, March 18.
In response, Palace officials swiftly issued a statement to the Russian state-run TASS news agency, stating that King Charles III is alive and well and is actively engaged in both official duties and personal affairs.
The 75-year-old monarch has been receiving treatment for cancer since late January.
After the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022, Charles ascended to the British throne.
He held the title of the longest-serving British heir apparent, surpassing Edward VII’s record of 59 years on April 20, 2011.
At the age of 73, Charles became the oldest person to succeed to the British throne, surpassing William IV who was 64 when he became king in 1830.
On September 9, at 6 pm, Charles addressed the nation for the first time, honouring his mother and announcing the appointment of his elder son, William, as Prince of Wales.
In 1981, he married Lady Diana Spencer and they shared two sons together, William and Harry.
Charles and Diana divorced in 1996, after they had each engaged in well-publicised extramarital affairs.
Diana died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash the following year. In 2005, Charles married his long-term partner, Camilla Parker Bowles.
