President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate reopening of the Dangote cement factory in Obajana region of Kogi state.
Buhari gave the order during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting held at the council chambers of the state house, Abuja.
The minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, minister of police affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, and the chief of defence staff, General Lucky Irabor, were present at the meeting on Friday, October 14, Premium Times reports.
Aregbesola, while speaking after the meeting, said that an agreement had been reached between Kogi state government and Dangote Group on the need to reopen the cement factory, urging both parties to respect the agreement.
The minister added that the council ordered immediate reopening of the factory and advised that all issues in contention be resolved legally.
Recall that state government had on Tuesday, October 4, ordered the closure of the company after its investigation into the cement factory’s operation revealed that no valid acquisition took place for Obajana plant.
The state house of assembly considered inviting former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris, to shed light on the considerations given to the state during the signing of an agreement between Dangote cement company and the state.
These considerations include the ten percent shares of the state in the company, the company’s social responsibilities to the state, and other benefits.
