About 71 people have lost their lives following a terrible road accident that occured at Sidama state in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday, December 29.
This was revealed via a post on the Sidama Police Commission’s Traffic Prevention and Control Directorate Facebook platform on Monday, December 30.
The post read, “68 males and three females are known to have died in the accident so far.”
The incident happened at about 5:30 pm local time about 1430 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) when the vehicle fell off the road and into a river.
The post also mentioned that two others have suffered serious injuries, but it did not provide additional details about the number of passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The accident took place in Sidama state, located about 300 kilometers approximately 180 miles south of the nation’s capital, Addis Ababa, in the Eastern Zone, within Bona Zuria Woreda.
