The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday, January 26, approved a two-month temporary dispensation allowing Authorised Dealer Banks (ADBs) to continue accepting expired National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) licences for the processing of Form M.
The approval was communicated in a notice signed by Aliyu Ashiru, director of the trade and exchange department at the CBN.
According to the notice, ADBs may accept NAFDAC licences that expired on December 31, 2025, until February 28.
Form M is a document used by importers in Nigeria to register goods intended for importation into the country.
The CBN explained that the temporary measure became necessary due to the transition from the legacy Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS II) platform and challenges faced by importers in validating or renewing NAFDAC licences on the B’Odogwu system after December 2025.
The apex bank directed all authorised dealer banks to continue accepting the affected NAFDAC licences strictly for Form M processing and to ensure full compliance with the conditions of the dispensation, which ends on February 28.
According to the CBN, the decision is aimed at avoiding disruptions to import and trade activities while NAFDAC completes the integration of its systems with the new national single window.
