Children Beg FG To Release Mamu For Major Surgery

According to them, it was because of his health challenge, which needed urgent attention that initially made him fly to Cairo before he was arrested and brought back to Nigeria.   The concern over Mamu’s health was expressed in a statement, yesterday, signed by his children, Faisal, Zainab, Usama, Nazir, Kashim and Marwan.  The statement entitled ‘A Passionate Appeal For Mercy’, the family noted that the appeal became necessary in view of the man’s deteriorating state of health.    “On behalf of the family of Tukur Mamu, we, the children, call on President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu and President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio to wade into the continuous detention of our father and help ensure his bail, in the name of God and humanity”. “We are not seeking the discontinuation of our father’s trial, but we are passionately pleading for administrative bail for our father, so that he will urgently do the much needed surgery,” the statement stressed.   The family explained “Mamu has a well documented history of respiratory ailments which forced him to travel to Egypt for medical treatment several times before his arrest and incarceration.”   It added: “Finally, we the children of Tukur Mamu wish to tender unreserved apologies to anyone our father may have offended in the discharge of his duties as a media practitioner.
