A car powered by Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, exploded at a NipCo CNG filling station in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Thursday, October 17, while it was being refueled.
A viral video from the scene shows that many individuals sustained injuries from the explosion, which completely dislodged the rear end of the vehicle.
At the time of this report, the injured victims had been quickly transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Eyewitnesses noted that the blown-out gas tank appeared to have been fabricated by a welder, speculating that this could have contributed to the explosion.
