A group of contractors under the aegis of ‘Concerned Contractors of Abuja’ staged a peaceful protest on Monday, May 6, urging the Federal Government (FG) to pay for projects they completed over the last two years.
The contractors who were led by their spokesperson, Kabir Tijani held the protest at the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, voicing their frustration over the prolonged non-payment, urging President Bola Tinubu to step in and facilitate the immediate release of the owed funds.
Tijani stated that further delays in payment could push contractors to desperate measures amid the nation’s ongoing economic and security challenges.
He said, “We’re calling on Mr President to please help us talk to these people to pay us our money.
“It has been too long, for about two years now, and we have been expecting payments.
“But we don’t want to get pushed to the wall because we already know the tension in this country, the insecurity in this country.
“We don’t want to add more to Mr. President.
“We want Mr President to please intervene on behalf of our contractors, our members, to ensure that we are paid our contract money.”
