Court aquits Jide Omokere, Diezani’s ally of $1.6b fraud

    Jide Omokore, chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited  was discharged and acquitted of fraud allegations by a federal high court in Abuja.


    On
    July 4, 2016, Omokore was arraigned alongside Victor Briggs, Abiye Membere, and David Mbanefo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 15-count charge.

    They were accused of defrauding the federal government by diverting $1.6 billion in proceeds from the sale of petroleum products.

    Omokore, an ally of former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, was first charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2016.


    He
    was charged with 15 counts of fraud alongside Victor Briggs, Abiye Membere, and David Mbanefo.

    The trio was charged with defrauding the federal government of $1.6 billion in proceeds from the sale of petroleum products. They were arraigned before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba.
