A Magistrate court in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara state has sentenced a 24-year-old man, Tashiu Aminu Lulu, to 5 years imprisonment for defiling a teenage girl after ‘’hypnotizing” her with a charm.
Magistrate Abubakar Ahmed Boro found Lulu guilty of charges related to criminal charm, force and gross indecency involving an 18-year-old girl.
In a statement released on Friday, September 22 2023, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, announced that the culprit was apprehended on September 20, 2023, at 4:25pm in Woro community within Kaiama local government area of Kwara state.
He was apprehended based on a compliant from the victim whose name was withheld, who accused the culprit of charm, assault and gross indecency.
According to her, the culprit called her on the phone to come over to his house. She claimed she left her house unconsciously and on getting to the suspect’s house, he ordered her to pull off her clothes which she did unconsciously too.
She said the suspect thereafter took a razor blade and cut some hair from her head, armpit, and private part. She said he commanded her to do some incantations with a calabash in her hands and thereafter had sex with her. She alleged that since then, she has been having terrible dreams.
The state Commandant, Umar J.G Mohammed ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and in the course of interrogations, the culprit confessed to the crimes.
The matter was later handled at Kaiama division of the command.
The culprit was prosecuted for Criminal Charm, 217, Criminal Assault and force, 268 and gross indecency, 285, of the penal code respectively.
The culprit pleaded guilty and was handed a 5-year term at Okekura correctional service, Ilorin, while his charm was publicly destroyed and burnt at the court premises.
