A final year student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, identified as Prince was killed by cultists at Abuja Street in Ikot Osurua, Akwa Ibom.
The state’s police spokesperson, Timfon John revealed that the incident occured on Wednesday, January 15.
Timfon noted that the deceased was a final-year computer science student of the polytechnic.
She stated that the incident was initially reported as a robbery and cult activity in the area.
The police spokesperson stated that the victim was attacked in the presence of his female friend.
John further disclosed that the ongoing investigation confirmed the student died from the assault.
She said, “The information at the command’s disposal is that it was a robbery and cultist operation.
“They entered a particular residence and robbed.
“And they shot someone who was later identified as a student.
“But the investigation is ongoing.”
Prince had just finished his final exams and was getting ready to defend his project when he was murdered.
The gunmen entered the compound and proceeded to Prince’s room and shot him in the abdomen.
The victim’s female friend shouted for help, which led the neighbors to quickly take him to the hospital but unfortunately he did not survive.
