Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, has announced that he will invest $700 million in the education of Nigerians over the next decade.
Speaking on Sunday, December 7, at the 2025 Doha Forum in Qatar, Dangote said the fund will support over 155,000 Nigerians across secondary schools and universities.
During a panel session alongside Bill Gates and Sheikha Al Mayassa, Dangote highlighted how innovation, philanthropy, and cultural investment are creating new opportunities across Africa.
He noted that the initiative aims to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria and equip more young people with the technical skills needed to advance the country’s economy.
Dangote stated, “In Africa, we have a population of about 1.4 billion people, so partnerships are important.
“That is why we partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate polio in Nigeria.
“Next week, we will launch a $700 million fund to support education. The initiative will run for ten years before we review its impact.”
Dangote also mentioned that Dangote petrochemical has trained more than 50,000 Nigerians to operate its 160,000-barrel-per-day refinery.
He said the skilled workforce will be redeployed as part of the refinery’s ongoing expansion, while the education fund will help develop talent for other industries in Nigeria.
