Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, on Monday, October 10, met with the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, over the recent tussle for ownership of the Dangote cement factory in Obajana region of the state.
The meeting took place at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Monday evening, according to The Cable.
Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president, and Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa state, were also present at the meeting.
The development is coming days after the Kogi state house of assembly ordered the sealing of the factory following agitations by the indigenes who raised questions about the ownership of the company.
Recall that state government had on Tuesday, October 4, ordered the closure of the company after its investigation into the cement factory’s operation revealed that no valid acquisition took place for Obajana plant.
The state house of assembly considered inviting former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris, to shed light on the considerations given to the state during the signing of an agreement between Dangote cement company and the state.
These considerations include the ten percent shares of the state in the company, the company’s social responsibilities to the state, and other benefits.
