The Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, January 21, invited all Awujale nominees in Ogun state to report to its Ijebu-Ode office, following the cancellation of a planned meeting at the Awujale palace by the Awujale kingmakers council.
The directive was contained in a letter dated January 20, 2026, signed by the secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja.
The letter was addressed to the leadership of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, including the chairman, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, and the vice chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf.
The council expressed regret for the short notice and the inconvenience caused by the change of venue.
The letter emphasized that nominees must comply strictly and ensure punctuality at the DSS office located along Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) road, beside the state psychiatric hospital, off Igbeba road, by 11:00 a.m.
The purpose of the meeting at the DSS office was not stated in the letter.
The directive follows the Ogun state government’s decision to halt the selection process for the new Awujale of Ijebuland, over numerous petitions received from security agencies and other key stakeholders.
