The Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with other security agencies, killed two suspected commanders of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and destroyed several militant camps during a series of counter-insurgency operations in Imo State.
The operations targeted camps linked to suspected militant leaders Ifeanyi Okorienta-Eze, popularly known as “Gentle de Yahoo,” and Monday Oluchi Ogu, also known as “B44.”
Among those killed during the raids were Solomon Akarachukwu Alisiobi, popularly known as “Maddox,” and Chima Azubuogu, popularly called “Akajiofor,” both described by security operatives as key commanders of the ESN.
DSS played a central role in gathering intelligence and co-ordinating the joint security operations, which involved multiple security agencies.
The operation significantly weakened the operational capacity of the armed group by disrupting its command structure and limiting its ability to carry out coordinated attacks across the state.
The intelligence-led operations have also contributed to the relative calm recorded in several parts of Imo State.
The raid depleted the fighting strength of the militant network, forcing surviving members to flee and weakening the group’s operational capabilities.
The latest operation comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to combat violent attacks, dismantle armed criminal networks and restore lasting peace across the South-East region.
