President Goodluck has called on Nigerians to be prepared to make necessary sacrifices for the unity, peace, progress and political stability of Nigeria.

Jonathan who made the call in Abuja in his Easter message to Nigerians on Saturday, said that Easter celebration this year was taking place at a period of “very critical national choices and decisions.’’

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to use the Easter period for deep reflection on what they could collectively do for Nigeria and the successful completion of its current political process.

Jonathan said: “We must therefore seize the opportunity of the Easter holiday to reflect deeply on what more we need to do as a people to ensure that the political process in which we are currently engaged is successfully concluded.

“Happily, we have already successfully scaled the hurdle of the Presidential and National Assembly elections. I am quite hopeful that the gubernatorial and state assembly elections would also be conducted peacefully.

“By the grace of God, our beloved nation Nigeria is moving forward despite all challenges.’’

The President noted that the lessons of celebrating Easter during this year’s general elections can be understood from God’s divine love and glorious self-sacrifice for mankind’s redemption.

Jonathan, while wishing all Nigerians a happy Easter celebration, urged them to pray to God for His continuous blessings on Nigeria.
