Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu also known as Burna Boy has revealed that British music star Edward Christopher Sheeran also known as Ed Sheeran helped him secure a feature on Colombian singer Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll more popularly known as Shakira, World Cup song, Dai Dai, and also prepared him for the pressure of performing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
Burna Boy made the disclosure during a recent interview, where he spoke about his collaboration with Shakira and his relationship with Sheeran.
The Grammy-winning Afro-fusion artiste said Sheeran gave him a heads-up about the pressure that would come with performing at the World Cup final, noting that the British singer understood how he responds to stressful situations.
Burna Boy described Sheeran as “a very sensible and lovable guy,” adding that he had personally taken to him from the beginning.
Sheeran is credited as one of the songwriters of Dai Dai alongside producer Alexander Castillo.
Shakira had previously disclosed that she waited 20 days for Burna Boy to submit his verse for the collaboration.
The Colombian singer described Burna Boy’s contribution as the “cherry on top,” saying his vocals elevated the song.
