The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 64 year old Ndubisi John Iheukwumere over ₦165 million property fraud in Benin city, Edo state.
Iheukwumere is accused of collaborating with Salt Adaeze Udoka, who is currently at large, to defraud a petitioner by claiming to sell a 100-acre landed property in Ewulu kingdom, Delta state.
Preliminary investigation by operatives of the EFCC Benin zonal directorate revealed that the petitioner paid the money in two separate tranches.
However, the petitioner was unable to take possession of the property, as it was discovered that Iheukwumere did not own the land and had impersonated the rightful owners.
According to the EFCC, Iheukwumere has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
