The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, for questioning over an ongoing probe.
The invitation, dated 24 November, scheduled the meeting for 28 November at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
According to a letter signed by Sunday Atiba Ofen-Imu on behalf of EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede, the agency is seeking information from Malami relevant to a case under investigation.
“This request is made pursuant to section 38(1) and (2) of the economic and financial crimes commission (establishment) act, 2024.
“Your cooperation in this regard is highly solicited, please,” the letter read.
Details of the probe were not disclosed.
Malami has confirmed receiving the invitation and pledged to comply in a statement on Friday.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC.
“As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.
“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service, the principles that I both advocate and champion,” he said.
Malami addded that he remains committed to sharing developments as they unfold.
