Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has criticized United States (US) President Donald Trump’s tax and spending bill.
Musk revealed this via a post on X on Tuesday, June 3 calling it a disgusting abomination.
The post read, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.
“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
The bill, which passed through the House of Representatives last month, features trillions in tax cuts, increased defense funding, and authorization for the US government to take on more debt.
Trump, who dubbed it as the ‘big beautiful bill,’ has backed the measure despite projections that it will push the federal deficit up by around $600 billion in the next fiscal year.
Musk stepped down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) last week after the role he held for only four months.
His resignation sparked widespread attention, partly due to his close ties with Trump.
However, a retweet from the X CEO’s account confirmed that the move had not damaged their personal relationship.
Before Trump returned to the presidency, Musk who was instrumental in supporting his reelection bid had repeatedly advocated for a more frugal approach to government spending.
