Ex-Nasarawa deputy gov, Onje Gye-Wado regains freedom after spending 48 hours in kidnappers’ den

    Onje Gye-Wado, former deputy governor of Nasarawa state, has regained his freedom from kidnappers’ den.

    The former deputy governor was abducted by some unknown gunmen on Thursday evening, April 6, at his residence in Gwagi village, Wamba local government area of the state.

    Ramhan Nansel, police public relations officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa state, who confirmed the release of Gye-Wado on Monday, April 10, said that the former deputy governor was released on Sunday morning.

    The police spokesperson, however, said that he is not aware if a ransom was paid before the Gye-Wado was released.

    He said that Gye-Wado was set free following the “search and rescue” operation of police operatives.

    Nansel noted that, “We don’t support or encourage payment of ransom to kidnappers.

    “The former deputy governor was released due to the sustained effort of our search rescue team that was deployed.”
