The family of Ozioma Okonkwo has exposed a calculated extortion scheme in which his wife, Chisom Okonkwo, colluded with a relative to falsely accuse him of defiling their two daughters.
According to the family, the elaborate plot was orchestrated by a single mother relative seeking to extort money from Ozioma’s nephew in the United States, who had been providing her with accommodation and financial support
When the woman later requested additional money for school books, the nephew refused, instructing her to seek support from the father of her children, noting that he had already provided for their upkeep and housing.
The family stated that the woman then colluded with Chisom to falsely accuse Ozioma of defiling their daughters, using him as a scapegoat to pressure the nephew for money.
Reports indicate that she even took the nephew’s name to several churches and herbalists in attempts to coerce him.
The children, admitted during police questioning that their mother had coached them to lie about the allegations.
Following investigation, Ozioma was released, while his wife has been arraigned before the Enugu magistrate court.
The single mother, identified as Chidinma Nweze, is currently at large.
The family’s lawyer has filed a petition accusing Chidinma of theft, defamation, and attempted kidnapping, claiming she stole from the family home, revealed private information about the nephew, and planned to abduct him upon his return to Nigeria.
