Hoodlums have reportedly killed a monarch, the Baale of Olowe Gbagura in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Chief Akin Muheedeen.
They also reportedly razed his corpse, leaving residents in palpable fear and tension over the likely eruption of a major crisis in the community.
The horrifying incident occurred barely seven weeks after the palace of Olu of Agodo, Oba Ayinde Odetola, in Ewekoro Local Government Area was stormed by armed hoodlums who set him and three of his aides ablaze after they were gruesomely murdered.
The incident in Olowe Gbagura community, according to a report by The Nation, occurred on Monday, March 7, 2022, when the community leader had gone out to observe the Islamic morning prayer (Subhi).
Sources within the monarch’s family claimed the killers broke into his residence through the window.
One of the deceased’s wives, Silifat, claimed she was returning from the mosque around 6am when she saw fire raging from the Baale’s wing of compound.
“When I saw the fire, I shouted, I didn’t know what was happening. I rushed down only to discover that my husband was on fire, already dead.
“We later found out that a window at the back of the house was broken. We didn’t know who killed him,” Silifat said.
