A possible fire disaster is imminent in Ibadan as a fuel-laden NNPC tanker is currently discharging fuel on the Oojo end of the Oojo-Iwo road expressway Ibadan. The Street Journal gathered that the fuel tanker developed mechanical fault in the middle of the road, precipitating serious traffic gridlock in the area.
When our correspondent visited the scene, fuel was seen gushing out from the tanker in the middle of the expressway that connects the South West to the Northern part of the country.
Passersby were sighted keeping a wide distance as any spark could ignite uncontrollable inferno in seconds. A team of policemen on patrol of the expressway could not move close to the scene of the disaster in waiting for fear of dear lives. As customary of Nigerians fond of scooping fuel from such vehicles discharging fuel, nobody was able to move a hundred meters close to the wasting essential commodity.
The Street Journal however, seizes this opportunity to call on the state fire fighters to race to the area to avert a possible fire disaster that is capable of consuming the entire neighbourhood.
