A six-room private residence at Elere House, located in the Gold and Rock area of Oyo State, was consumed by fire, resulting in the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, confirmed via a statement that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 2.

Akinyinka stated that the agency received an emergency call about the fire at precisely 12:24 a.m, placed by one Jimoh Saheed.

He said, “The fire personnel, led by the head of the Alliance for Consumer Fire Safety (ACFS), Oyedeji, promptly deployed to the incident scene and arrived on time.

“On getting there, we met a private residential building of six rooms engulfed by fire.

“We swiftly started operation, and we were able to curtail it from spreading to nearby buildings.”

Akinyinka explained that the fire was triggered by a power surge following the restoration of electricity by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), noting that no casualties were reported.

He also mentioned that the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to nearby buildings, with properties worth billions of naira saved by the agency’s officers.
