Several properties were destroyed on Sunday following a devastating gas explosion that occurred on Baale Street in Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State.
The explosion triggered a massive fire that continued to burn at the time of filing this report.
A video circulating online captured residents and sympathizers gathered at the scene, lamenting the scale of property loss caused by the inferno.
It will be recalled that a similar tragedy that struck in December 2024, when a fire outbreak, also linked to a gas leak, consumed a two-storey building in Mushin area of Lagos.
That fire destroyed properties worth millions of naira, with the top floor of the building suffering the most severe damage. The blaze, it was gathered, started from the front flat before spreading rapidly to the adjoining flat on the same floor.
