The minister of defence and former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Wednesday, January 28, visited ASELSAN, Turkey’s leading defence electronics company, to explore opportunities for enhanced military cooperation, as part of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to Turkey.
General Musa, accompanied by the chief of the air staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, was received by Turkey’s president of defence industries, Haluk Görgün.
During the visit, discussions centered on enhancing defence and technology partnerships between Nigeria and Turkey.
The delegation conducted hands-on inspections of key defence systems, reviewed ongoing collaborations, and explored prospects for expanded defence synergy.
General Musa highlighted ASELSAN’s global recognition in military communications, radar, surveillance, and electronic systems for land, air, and naval platforms.
He noted that the engagement aligns with Nigeria’s strategic objective to strengthen national defence capacity through partnerships, technology transfer, and access to modern defence solutions.
He further stated that the visit offered valuable insights into advanced defence electronics, which could reinforce Nigeria’s security architecture, and reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen defence relations with Turkey, particularly in training, research, production, and systems integration.
