The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old suspect, Abubakar Aliyu of Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out multiple armed robberies and thefts across the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe metropolis.
The arrest followed a swift investigation by the police after a robbery was reported on October 15. According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the operation led to the recovery of several stolen items, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, an Apple MacBook laptop, an Apple Watch, an Oraimo Power Bank, and a pink school bag.
The statement read, “On 15th October, 2025, at about 1100hrs, a female resident of Federal Low-Cost, Gombe, reported that on the same date, at about 0230hrs, she was attacked by an unknown person armed with a knife who robbed her of her personal belongings.
“These include an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at ₦800,000, an Apple MacBook laptop valued at ₦250,000, an Apple Watch valued at ₦35,000, an Oraimo Power Bank valued at ₦30,000, and a pink school bag valued at ₦25,000.”
Abdullahi disclosed that officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters acted promptly, leading to Aliyu’s arrest and the recovery of all stolen property.
“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime. He further revealed that on October 8, 2025, he conspired with one Hadi (surname unknown), now at large, and broke into another female victim’s residence at Federal Low-Cost, where they stole several items,” he said.
Items stolen during the earlier burglary included a Samsung Fold 3 worth ₦800,000, a Black View Tab 80 valued at ₦140,000, two rings worth ₦40,000, a counter valued at ₦20,000, and a car key. Some of the stolen items have already been recovered, while police efforts to apprehend the fugitive accomplice are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, praised the officers for their swift and coordinated response, describing the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the Command’s efforts to combat violent crime in the state.
He further urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest police station for timely intervention.
