Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has approved the disengagement of 30 special advisers in a move aimed at reorganising the structure of governance and strengthening administrative performance in the state.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, who said the decision forms part of ongoing efforts to reshape the administration in line with the governor’s New Niger agenda.
According to the statement, the governor did not immediately announce replacements or fresh appointments, but stressed that the exercise was intended to recalibrate key positions to achieve better efficiency and service delivery.
Ibrahim said the announcement was made during Governor Bago’s first Executive Council meeting with the newly inaugurated commissioners, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna.
He explained that the termination of their appointment was to allow the governor to rejig and reposition their portfolios with a view to making them more effective and efficient in line with his New Niger agenda.
The governor, he added, expressed appreciation to the affected advisers for their dedication and contributions to the administration’s objectives, while wishing them success in their future pursuits.
