Governors Forum In Stormy Session Over Revenue Sharing Formula

    0

The sharing of revenues accruing to the Federation Account is on top of the consideration by the Nigerian Governors Forum which is currently meeting in Abuja, according to emerging reports.

The meeting is holding behind closed doors at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

Before the start of the meeting, 23 governors were in attendance just as the Governors are expected to reach an agreement on revenue sharing that they would present to the Federal Government.

It is the first time the Governors are meeting after about three years following the emergence of two factional chairmen after an election that resulted in disagreement.

Each of the two factions were led by former Governors of Rivers and Plateau States, Rotimi Amaechi And Jonah Jang respectively.

However, at a recent reconciliatory meeting of the Governors, the Governor of Zamfara State, Abdullaziz Yari, was appointed chairman of the forum, and is believed to be presiding over Wednesday’s meeting.

Some Governors of the All Progressives congress on Monday requested for a bailout from the Federal Government, saying ‘dwindling revenue’ has affected the payment of workers salaries.

The NLC had said that about 18 states’ governors are owing over 8 months salaries.
