‘Dapper Live & Artists,’ a Lagos-based concert organized by Damilola Akinwunmi aka Dapper, has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest Afrobeats orchestra after bringing together 85 musicians for a record-setting performance.
The global record authority announced the achievement on Tuesday, July 7, in a post on X, confirming that the performance met the requirements for the world record. It also shared a video from the concert, which featured Fuji legends Saheed Akorede Babatunde Okunola otherwise known as King Saheed Osupa and Sulaimon Alao Adekunle also known as KS1 Malaika alongside several Afrobeats artistes.
The record-breaking performance took place on December 16, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos during the Trench Symphony: The Dapper Live Experience.
The orchestra performance featured 85 musicians performing under the direction of a conductor, supported by a lead vocalist, choir and dancers in a coordinated production that blended Afrobeats with orchestral music.
The concert also featured performances by T.I Blaze, Rybeena, Bhadboi OML, Kashcoming, TML Vibez, Lasmid, Heis Cazulee and Dwillsharmony, while King Saheed Osupa and KS1 Malaika added Fuji music to the orchestral showcase.
Before receiving official certification, the organisers had disclosed on Instagram that the performance was undergoing Guinness World Records’ verification process.
Damilola who is in a relationship with celebrity chef and multiple GWR holder Hilda Effiong Bassey also known as Hilda Baci, said the project was designed to merge Afrobeats, Fuji and orchestral music in an ambitious production aimed at setting a new global record.
