No fewer than seven persons have lost their lives at Pinua village of Wase local council, Plateau state, as gunmen attacked the residents of the community.
One of the survivors, Bazuga Ibrahim, on Monday, July 25, stated that the gunmen killed seven persons during the attack on Pinua village, adding that four of those, who were shot, died in the bush, The Guardian reports.
Bazuga further noted that over 3,000 residents of Pinua village took to their heels when the gunmen struck on Saturday night, July 24, stressing that the village had been deserted.
The deputy speaker, house of representatives, Ahmed Wase, while confirming the attack, stated that the attack on Pinua village in Wase local council claimed seven lives.
Wase, on Monday, July 25, said, “We are worried over the destruction of lives and properties in my constituency and we are doing our best to address the situation.
“The primary role of any government is to protect life and property. When we fail to do that, then we have failed in our responsibility.
“I want to assure our people that we are conscious of our responsibility and we will not fail the people,” he added.
Wase further noted that the security challenges in the area existed due to colonial mining activities by people from different parts of the country.
