Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar, on Thursday, January 29, sought public help to raise ₦25 million for her brain tumour surgery.
The actress made the appeal during an instagram live session, revealing that her financial challenges worsened after she spent her savings on her mother’s hernia surgery in October 2025, which cost ₦9 million.
She noted that she is currently homeless, and funds previously donated for her medical treatment could not be used to resolve her housing issues after her landlady rejected the payment and asked her to vacate the apartment.
Halima expressed frustration over claims that she was fabricating her illness, insisting that she had no reason to lie about her health condition.
She said repeated attempts to reach colleagues and acquaintances for assistance were unsuccessful whch is why she is turning to the public.
“Only a mad person would lie about being sick.
“It is embarrassing and heartbreaking that people think I am lying.
“I am coming out publicly to seek help because I have asked people around me and received none.
“I am ashamed to do this, but it is my only option.
“I have nothing to my name anymore except the money contributed for my surgery; I have suffered too much,” she said.
Halima appealed to prominent Nigerians, including Seyi Tinubu, former Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, and social media activist Verydarkman, for financial assistance.
She disclosed that the requested ₦25 million will cover her brain tumour surgery, splenectomy, post-operative care, accommodation, and daily expenses.
She added that she has been on medication for a year and has relocated to Abuja to be closer to the Turkish hospital for the procedures.
