Singer Harrison Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, on Saturday, January 31, demanded a public apology from his estranged wife, Alexer Perez Gopa, for defaming him while threatening a ₦1 billion lawsuit.
The demand was contained in a cease-and-desist letter dated January 30, issued by Mary M. Iyenagbe & Co. (Victory Chambers), a law firm based in Asaba, Delta state, acting on behalf of the singer.
The firm gave Alexer a 14-day ultimatum to publicly apologize to Harrysong, as she had engaged in actions and remarks that damaged the singer’s character and reputation.
They warned that failure to comply with the demand within the stipulated timeframe would result in legal action, which the singer intends to pursue ₦1 billion in monetary damages, along with other equitable relief.
The legal move follows accusations from Alexer on Thursday, where she claimed Harrysong had subjected her to harassment and unannounced home visits since their separation, eventually forcing her to relinquish the custody of their children.
Harrysong, however, denied the allegations, stating that the public back-and-forth risks damaging the very career that provides for the children’s upbringing.
