Hoodlums, on Sunday, January 1, attacked the convoy of the governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, in Wamakko local government area of the state.
Wamakko is the hometown of the former governor of the state and the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Aliyu Wamakko.
One of Tambuwal’s aides, while confirming the incident on Sunday, said that the attack on the governor’s convoy happened shortly after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally in Silame and Wamakko local government areas of the state.
According to the source, the cars were attacked when Governor Tambuwal was coming back from the third leg of the PDP statewide electioneering campaign in Silame and Wamakko local Government Areas on Sunday evening, The Punch reports.
He noted that the hoodlums threw stones at the moving vehicles in the convoy, striking the front windscreen of the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity official SUV and piercing the rear screen of the following official SUV conveying the permanent secretary (protocol) to the governor.
The source added that the stone that damaged the protocol’s car missed the governor’s special adviser on public affairs, Mallam Abu Shekara.
However, Tambuwal, his deputy, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, the PDP state governorship candidate, Saidu Umar, the deputy governorship candidate, Sagiru Bafarawa, and the visiting Kebbi state PDP governorship candidate, Aminu Bande, and other PDP bigwigs in the state, all of whom were in the convoy, were not hurt.
