Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to make public the long-awaited forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claiming it implicates former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike, during an interview in Abuja on Friday, July 4, declared he would resign from his ministerial role if the report fails to indict Amaechi.
Responding to recent corruption allegations made against him by Amaechi, Wike accused the former minister’s wife of receiving N4 billion monthly from the NDDC under the guise of training women in the Niger Delta.
“Amaechi’s wife was never an industrialist. That’s why I call President Tinubu to release the forensic audit of the NDDC,” Wike said.
“Her company received N4 billion every month to train Niger Delta women—that’s N48 billion in one year alone. The forensic audit report is there. Who buried it? Malami, the former Attorney General.
“I plead with President Tinubu to help Nigerians by releasing that document. If the report does not confirm what I’ve said, I will resign as Minister of the FCT. I don’t worship office.”
Wike clarified that while he does not consider the audit report to be beyond scrutiny, he firmly believes it should be released to the public for transparency.
“Let Nigerians see the report. That is how Amaechi’s wife became an industrialist, N4 billion every month,” he said.
The FCT Minister also cast doubt on Amaechi’s academic qualifications, describing them as subpar.
He rejected Amaechi’s claim that a senator gifted him a Rolls-Royce he doesn’t use, stating instead that the high-end vehicle was provided by a contractor who executed nearly 90% of government projects during Amaechi’s tenure as governor of Rivers State.
