The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed a blackout in some Osun communities.
The power generating company attributed the outage to an accident.
In a statement on Tuesday, February 6, the DISCO said the vehicular accident affected the Ikire/Wasinmi 33kV feeder.
“Dear Esteemed Customer, due to a vehicular accident which affected the Ikire/Wasinmi 33kV feeder, customers in the following communities: Ikire, Apomu, Ikoyi Ile, Asejire, Baale Ayo, Wasinmi, Alasepe, Balogun, and environs are experiencing a power outage,” the company stated in a notice.
IBEDC, however, assured that its “technical team is working to ensure power supply is restored. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience”, the statement read.
Recall that parts of the country on Sunday, February 4, experienced a power outage after the national grid collapsed for the first time in 2024 to zero megawatts.
However, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) later announced that the national grid had been completely restored following the partial disruption.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, stated that the company promptly initiated the restoration process for the affected portion of the grid.
Mbah stated that before the incident, the total generation on the grid was 3,901.25 Mega Watts (MW) at 8 a.m., a little over three hours before the partial collapse.
