The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over certificate forgery and misappropriation of funds.
The anti-graft agency arraigned the 63-year-old on Monday, July 13, before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a six-count charge.
Four of the charges, counts three to six, border on certificate forgery, while the first two counts relate to the misappropriation of funds during his tenure as minister.
Nnaji pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.
The arraignment followed the conclusion of an ICPC investigation into claims that the former minister forged academic credentials and made false declarations.
The case stemmed from a petition challenging the authenticity of certificates Nnaji submitted during his nomination and screening for ministerial appointment.
In June, the ICPC obtained a 14-day remand order to detain the former minister after informing the court that he repeatedly failed to honour invitations for questioning despite several notices.
Nnaji subsequently appealed the court order authorising his arrest and asked that the decision be set aside.
The anti-graft agency later filed criminal charges against him following the conclusion of its investigation.
In October 2025 questions arose over the authenticity of certificates Nnaji used to secure his ministerial appointment in 2023.
Nnaji has denied any wrongdoing.
