The Imo state house of assembly has recalled two lawmakers, Okey Onyekanma and Ekene Nnodumele, respectively, 18 months after their suspension from the parliament.
Onyekanma, who is the immediate past deputy speaker of the parliament and Nnodumele, a former minority leader of the house, were recalled during a plenary on Thursday, May 4, in Owerri, the state capital.
They were suspended on November 8, 2021, the same day a former speaker of the house, Paul Emezim, was impeached.
The decision to recall the suspended lawmakers was based on a report of an ad hoc committee headed by the majority leader and member representing Owerri West state constituency, Kanayo Onyemaechi.
