Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has stated that sensitive electoral materials in the meantime will no longer be routed through Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN).
This was revealed by the INEC Chairman while answering to questions in an ongoing election conversation in Abuja on Saturday, June 4.
He further specifies that, starting with the governorship election in Ekiti state, INEC will not hold its sensitive materials with the CBN.
This move, he claims, is made to ensure that the electoral materials for the upcoming elections are not tampered with, according to Channels news.
After rumours regarding the CBN governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, suggesting interest in running for the country’s presidential seat broke the media in recent months, several persons and groups have expressed grave concern over the sanctity of Elections materials maintained with the CBN.
