The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has addressed the ongoing challenge of unstable power supply in the nation’s capital, attributing it to a deficiency in power allocation.
The management of AEDC issued a formal statement on Friday, February 16, disseminating the information through its official communication channels.
In their message, AEDC acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the inconsistent power supply experienced in recent times.
They stated that the root cause of these disruptions stems from an insufficiency in the amount of power allocated to their operations.
“Dear valued customers, We would like to inform you that we are aware of the unstable power supply experienced in recent times essentially caused by insufficient power allocation to us.
“This has constrained us to implement load curtailment directives across our franchise to manage the situation for grid stability,” the company stated.
This inadequacy has prompted AEDC to implement load curtailment directives across their operational areas. These directives, aimed at ensuring the stability of the electrical grid, entail intermittent and temporary interruptions of power supply to specific regions for limited durations.
Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused by these interruptions, AEDC assured their customers of their unwavering commitment to minimizing the impact of the outages.
They noted their dedication to managing the situation efficiently while seeking understanding and cooperation from affected residents.
Meanwhile they pledged to maintain transparency and keep their customers informed of any developments regarding the power supply situation.
They emphasized their readiness to provide timely updates and necessary information as circumstances evolve. AEDC also extended gratitude to their customers for their continued support and patience during this challenging period.
However, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in January stated that there has been a gradual decrease in available generation into the grid due to gas constraints.
This decline in available generation has subsequently impacted the amount of bulk power accessible on the national transmission grid, affecting distribution load centers across the country.
