The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members to suspend all operations across the country.
The chairman of IPMAN, Mohammed Kuluwu, made this known on Tuesday, February 7.
Kuluwu also directed the members of the association to shut down all filling stations across the country.
It is worth noting that Nigerians have been contending with fuel, new naira notes scarcity and erratic power supply for weeks.
Vehicle owners, especially in Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja, have had a tough time getting petrol from filling stations.
The shortage of supply has led to long, grueling snake-like queues at the few open filling stations as motorists and business owners jostle to buy fuel while others resort to black market.
The situation has also worsened traffic on major roads as vehicle owners block at least one lane to join queues to filling stations.
